CyberStart Canada's free microcredential course equips Canadians aged 16–24 with essential skills in online safety, digital literacy, and cybersecurity. Through hands-on learning, students gain the confidence to navigate the internet and social media safely, protect their personal information, and contribute to a safer digital world — at school, at work, and beyond.

Mike Gropp - Cyber Smart: Take Control of Your Digital Life Mike Gropp is an entrepreneur and cybersecurity expert who co-founded two global companies and has over 10 years of experience leading corporate training across the full lifecycle — from business development to impact measurement. He holds advanced cybersecurity certifications (OSCP, OSEP, GCIH, GSEC) and is a Certified Master Trainer and E-Learning Instructional Designer (ATD). A seasoned international speaker, Mike has addressed audiences of 1,000+ across 80 countries. He spent a decade in China, is fluent in Mandarin, and formerly taught business at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Randy Purse - Cybersecurity Fundamentals A veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) with years of experience in several security roles, Randy has also served as the Strategic Advisor of Cybersecurity Training and Education at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, as well as the Director of Cybersecurity Standards and Vice President of Future Workforce Development at Technation. He joined Catalyst at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2021 and specializes in cybersecurity strategy and management. He focuses his efforts on designing and facilitating cybersecurity training & education for a variety of academic and professional audiences. He continues to research, write and consult on cybersecurity, workforce development, and workplace learning.
